A service for foreign travellers/Visa & MasterCard cardholders

Credit Card Currency Conversion is an optional service, provided specifically for Visa and MasterCard cardholders travelling abroad: It enables you to benefit from transparent currency conversion while paying your rental with your card.

Usually, your card issuing bank converts each foreign currency transaction into your Billing currency and may charge you for this service depending on your personal bank terms and conditions.

Now, you have the choice and EUROPCAR can handle the currency conversion with transparent exchange rate and conditions, and thus replace your card issuing bank in doing the currency conversion.

What are the benefits of this service?

EUROPCAR charges you a very competitive exchange rate of Reuters Wholesale rate plus a 2.75% currency conversion fee. This means you get transparency of fees, and thus, get no surprises.

The transaction amount appears clearly on your bank card statement in your Billing currency, and depending on your personal bank terms and conditions, will usually include your rental agreement number and the original transaction value (i.e. in the currency of the rental country), with no additional charges from your card issuing bank.

If you choose to benefit from the Credit Card Currency Conversion service at the time of rental, you can download simultaneously with your invoice copy on www.europcar.com (rubric E-Invoicing) a receipt that shows the detailed currency conversion of your rental.

How to benefit from this service?

Today, this service is available in 9 European countries* on a range of currencies at most EUROPCAR counters, as specified in the rental agreement Terms and Conditions.

If you choose EUROPCAR Credit Card Currency Conversion service, your rental agreement shall be printed with the following statement: “The final charged amount will be converted into your billing currency.” followed by the 3-letter ISO code identifying such currency (e.g. USD, GBP, EUR).

If you wish to change your mind, you can declare it at the EUROPCAR counter, when returning the car back, and get your final invoice / statement of charges.

Just say to the counter agent whether or not you wish to use the EUROPCAR Credit Card Currency Conversion service.

If, for any technical reason we could not offer you this service or you choose to pay in your billing currency, the currency conversion conditions of your card issuing bank will be applied to the transaction.
